Sunday, 21.06.2009 - Monday, 22.06.2009
The first meeting of
part of our group took place on Sunday, 21st of June. Four German
participants (Paul Witt, Arne Steenbock, Ulrich Jordan, Siren Rühs) flew
from Hamburg to Copenhagen,
where they were joined by Tobias Hald
(Germany), Ronya Özcelik (Turkey), Florence Meier
(Switzerland)
and Pavel Kabele (Czech Republic).
Since there was a lot of spare time between the
different arrivals, the students started playing cards and found out
that the game UNO was known in almost every country. The last
participant having arrived
at Copenhagen airport in the evening the group took a local train to a
hotel nearby. After checking-in everyone was really hungry .Since there
was no opportunity to get anything to eat in the hotel we left searching
for a restaurant. However the restaurant marked on a map in the hotel
simply didn’t exist! We ended up having pizzas delivered for dinner. So
in the end all had gone smoothly and according to plan.

No real complications so far. That changed
the second day. Next morning we had breakfast at the hotel and returned
to the airport to wait for Anja Koekemoer and Naufiku
Hamunime
(Namibia) and Dr.Dirk Notz (Germany). Luckily all of them safely
arrived, however with Anja and Naufiku missing their entire luggage. We
then had to take a flight from Copenhagen to Akureyri, most of us not
really knowing where place that might be. In Akureyri a bus was waiting
for us that brought us to our final destination: Husavik. Arved and the
crew had arrived just a few hours before and gave us a hearty welcome.
We were briefly introduced to
each other and then went to the “Gamli Baukur“ for dinner. After having
a short look at Husavik we went to bed and instantly fell asleep.
