Wednesday, August 20th,
2008
On Wednesday morning every student had to present his individual report
at the whale museum's conference room. During the youth-camp all
participants had to work on particular questions referring to the impact
of global warming on their home town or country.
All
the participants had focussed their efforts on these questions and
produced very revealing reports, providing compelling arguments and
interesting insights. Apart from that several groups had prepared
project ideas and developed concepts to further promote measures to stop
the emission of greenhouse gases at their schools. All of these
materials will become part of a brochure which the participants will
bring back to their schools.
At 12 o'clock the group finally boarded their bus at Húsavěk to start
the long journey home. In bright sunny weather we were driven southwards
and admired once more the beautiful scenery of Iceland.

The 528 km journey to Keflavik was only interrupted by small breaks to
eat our packed lunches and at arriving at Reykjavik we received a hearty
welcome at Arndis' parents home.
We enjoyed enormous amounts of various pizzas and wonderful Icelandic
pancakes especially prepared for us by Arndis' mother and grandma. It
was delicious. Thank you very much indeed!
Quite some of tears were shed when we had to leave behind Arndis, Sigga
and Jennifer who was going to fly back to Gjoa Haven, Canada, via
edmonton and Yellowknife from Keflavik the next day.
We
then went on to Keflavik airport were we said good bye to our fabulous
bus driver all saying farewell to him with a spontanous "wave".
After midnight, on Thursday morning at 00:25, the plane left Keflavik
heading for Frankfurt where the group arrived at 5.50 a.m. local time.
It was here in Frankfurt that the I.C.E.-Camp 2008 participants had
finally to part and and say good bye during the day and fly home to
their home countries.
