‘Where are we travelling to this time?’, “How many beds are there on board?”, ’Is the ship made entirely of wood?’ - these are the questions that we are always happy to answer during our visit to Stralsund's city harbour.

We are one of the attractions at Baltic Sea Day 2025. The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde, the Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency Rostock and the German Maritime Museum Stralsund have joined forces to inspire young people in particular to take a look at the ‘sea on our doorstep’. Various school classes scurry through the harbour area. The German research vessels Elisabeth Mann Borgese, Clupea and Deneb offer ‘Open Ship’ tours. Scientists are on hand to answer questions. Universities present themselves and at various stands you can see all the fish species that are (still) present in the Baltic Sea or examine special nets for fishing. Here in front of the Dagmar Aaen, the main focus is on marvelling. Arved's autographs are very popular and our information flyers sell like hot cakes. In the afternoon, Arved sits on the podium at the Ozeaneum in a panel discussion on the state of the Baltic Sea. It's about nature conservation and the role of fishing.
