We haven't sleep this safely and protected on the "Dagmar Aaen" till now. In this small fishing harbour in Strandby (which lies between Frederikshavn and Skagen in northern Denmark), "Summer" and "Winter" are our guests. The two dogs, belonging to Alex and Franka carefully explore the ship and proclaim is as their territory. When anyone approaches the ship, both "Summer" and "Winter" begin to bark. Even at night! When it gets too loud, Franka brings the two under deck. It is not until they are allowed into her berth and are cuddled up with Franka, that they relax and sleep. Dogs in the mess of this expedition ship: This hasn't happened as yet in the 89-year history of the "Dagmar Aaen".
The first crew change on this Ocean Change Tour 2020 takes place in Strandby. Achim doesn't miss out on the chance of bringing Brigitte, Gabi and Matze to Denmark by car. Alex and his daughter Jule arrive as well. The new crew members are welcomed by a hearty barbecue right on the berth in front of the "Dagmar Aaen". The next morning Uli, Franka and the dogs say their goodbyes. It is raining cats and dogs - how fitting. We make use of the time for maintenance work and manage to get a dry spot under a big awning. We are heading on the next day. If the winds are willing, we are hoping to sail around the northern tip of Denmark and tie up in the harbour at Hirtshals in northwestern Jütland.
