I.C.E. 2019

I.C.E. 2019

Our International Youth Camp „Ice Climate Education” will take place for the 12th time this year from July 3rd to July 13th. Once again ten participants from different countries will be welcomed aboard the “Ryvar” and will intensively concern themselves during the camp with the problems associated with climate change. The sailing trip will begin in the Kiel Harbor, head for the Danish island Samso and end in the Museum Harbor in Flensburg. The expedition “Ocean Change “ will be taking place at the same time  and therefore Arved Fuchs cannot be personally on board, but there will be a live connection to the “Dagmar Aaen” during the first few days of the camp to give crew and ICE-members a change to have an exchange on the special topics of the expedition.

This year, as every year, interested participants had to qualify for the camp through a school internal competition.  Our office gave three themes to choose from and the students had to write a project report on one of these themes. The results this year were once again outstanding. The three themes were:

  1. The present situation: Pesticides in the food chain
  2. The future: Micro plastic in the air
  3. Biotope protection: the situation of the western Baltic herring

The following students qualified for a participation in this year’s ICE-Camp:
