Peterhead passage

The North Sea shows its uncomfortable side. Wind force 6 to 7 exactly from the northwest, exactly against. The Dagmar Aaen is in her element, she was built for the North Sea 92 years ago.

At least she feels well, some crew members, however, have to fight with seasickness. Under triple reefed sails with engine support we run in southwesterly direction. We cannot keep the direct course to Peterhead in Scotland. Halfway we set two more drift buoys and when the swell finally eases a bit, Julia can take another measurement with the CTD probe.

After four days we reach Peterhead. Dealing with customs and immigration is awkward thanks to Brexit, but finally done. In the evening we have a pizza orgy on deck - Peter has once again outdone himself.

Today, ship's work is the order of the day. Bernhard is caulking the deck, Celine and Ole are tightening the shrouds and Vera and Ann-Ca are painting. Lukas is working up in the rigging and I dive down into the engine room to do maintenance work.

After that, the Dagmar Aaen is fit again for the next leg.
