Glacier lake

Today we got up at 7 o 'clock like every day and we had our last breakfast at 8 o'clock in Geptaschhaus together. After breakfast we went to the seminar room to discuss the final version of  "COSPRED 2015". The final result of the ship accident was, that we sunk the burning tanker. Nobody was hurt because we saved the crew. The platform was also not damaged and there wasn't any oil spill sothe Arctic Sea isn't polluted.

After we discussed the several points of the document we had to vote for or against them. To sign the contract every participant had to agree on every part. At 10 o'clock the dcoument was signed by every party. During the thirty minute break the boys slept in their room, but the girls played games and gossiped about boys in the dinner room.

After the break we talked about our actions against global warming, how to inform the people around us and what we can do in our schools to raise awareness about environmental problems which we learned about in the I.C.E. - Camp 2015 in Gepatschhaus, Kaunertal. Everyone was asked to tell his or her feelings about the presentations, hiking tripsm organisationm the Gepatschhaus, the other participants and what can be improved. Everyone was happy about the Gepatschhaus.

Kasnocken und Palatschinken

Some girls complained about the difficulty of the hiking trips, for the others it was optimal and the boys and the Veggie (Lucia) would like to hike more. Everyone like the organisation. The presentation were informative as well as interesting. After this the leaders gave us a lot of free time from 12 to 15 o'clock when tea time had taken place. We all finished our two for two interviews and the Brezel (Astrid), Ayanda, Brother Justus and Veggie (Lucia) played a card game outside.

During tea time we ate Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce or whipped cream. It was delicious. Just after eating Lucia, Kamil, Merlin, Esra and Kaius went to visit the glacier gate for the last time. During the trip just below the tongue, the boys found a small lake in between the rocks. Of course the boys wanted to swim in it. Esra and Veggie left, leaving the boys alone in the lake. The water was about 6 degrees Celcius, so it wasn't too cold. They jumped into the water. That was for them the most refreshing moment of the camp. On the way back Kamil, Kaius and Merlin didn't get enough adrenaline, so they climbed very steep rock walls.

Kaius and Kamil just broke their arms. The girls watched them risking their lifes and took pictures.Happily the crew made it back to the Gepatschhaus in the perfect time when the supper begun. Today we had soup and as the main dish was typical Austrian, we had "Kasnocken" with salad and the desert was pancakes "Palatschinken" with chocolate topping. Merlin ate three salads...

After this last tasty supper we hided our presents like Eastern eggs, and the leaders gave us our certificates. We are really happy to be a part of this camp but we are also sad that we are returning to our home countries tomorrow. We hope that we will revise the COSPRED document in ten years in Gepatschhaus...

Glacier crevasse

This day began, like every other day, at 8 o'clock we had breakfast. Most of us were tired but thankfully everybody was in time. After breakfast Justus continued in the exciting renewable-energy-game with us. We were all so proud of ourselves because we reached the goals we had set two days before. These goals include the increase of wind, solar and hydro energy and the reduction of nuclear power and oil drilling.

Our day got very interesting as we split into four groups and got to know each other abit more. We interviewed each other on four aspects of our lives, this included questions on our personal background, life goals etc. These questions will be collected and published by the organization.

Weißseeferner

Our day got exciting as we had different Austrian dishes at lunch, which included Kaiserschmarrn, Austrian Bockwurst and more. This got us ready for our next adventure to the Weißseeferner where we saw the glacier crevasse. The glacier was very cold and the path was very slippery but this didn't stop us from exploring the fascinating ice cave. We took a lot of photos in the glacier and some managed to also build a snowman. After the awesome experience we went to go wait for the bus and some of us bought souvenirs and postcards.

After the glacier experience many of us took a poer nap. We had a tasty potato soup at supper, which was followed by a big mountain of spaghetti. After the vanilla pudding we got together for the second to last conference of our simulation game. All in all it was a great day.

Nasserein Alm

We woke up bright and early this morning to our  usual breakfast of cereal, bread, cheese and salami. From there, we went on another hike which was quite challenging as it was mostly uphill. However, the stunning views of the surrounding mountains made the pain worth it. Finally we reached our destination: Nasserein Alm, a small inn where we partook in delicious Tyrolean cuisine: fresh milk from the local farm, apple strudel, hauswurst and hollundersaft.

From there, our group split in two: those who wanted to take a longer (but easier) route back, and those who wanted to take the regular route. Both groupes enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery, as well as the flowing rivers. When we finally reached the Gepatschhaus, after a short break Kristin gave us a presentation on rising sea levels. She also showed us a fun and interesting experiment where we compared the melting time of ice cubes in salt water and fresh water in order to see if the melting of sea ice actually contributed significantly to rising sea levels.

Surprisingly, the ice in the salt water melted much slower than the ice in freshwater. Afterwards, Annelie engaged us on an interesting discussion on climate change in the media, and as an exercise as well created catchy headlines to describe the effects of rising sea levels in our own countries. Some headlines were Leda's "Poseidon is coming..." for Cyprus, and "Look at your feet, soon you will be standing in water" by Merlin from Sylt, Germany. Then after a short break, we had a delicious joint supper followed by another meeting of the simulation game.

Klettergarten

For today the plan was to visit the power station, but unfortunately it had to be changed: at breakfast we were told that we would go into the DAV adventure crag with 26 routes, called a climbing garden. Really beautiful name for a place but unfortunately again we didn't reach the place. First of all going there we had two maps and both showed different location for the climbing garden, but then we found an amazingly steep, bush-covered mountain-slope and we decided to climb it up.

After a difficult descent from the mountain side we continued on our way but soon it was interrupted again. We reached a river which started from the Gepatschferner. Of course everyone wanted to see how cold the water was and so boots and socks were taken off and we all went into the river. It was really cold and that's the reason why we wanted to complete against each other who could stay longest in the water. Our winner was Leda, the second place belonged to Kamil.

 One world - changing the game

Soon it was time to start moving again but now our group split into two, some went back to Gepatschhaus but Kamil, Kaius, Merlin and Lucia decided to hike a bit further. They finally reached Red Rocks and this place was simply stunning.
However, 12:30 was the time at which everyone had to be back at Gepatschhaus because Justus had prepared several activities for the afternoon. First of them was a presentation on energy production and we learned about energy as such, sustainability and also about the energy system in Germany and the first rule of thermodynamics in energy productions perspectives. After a short break (which was spent sleeping), we played the game "One world - changing the game".

In the game we had to create sustainable energy system for Northern Europe in 2030. We discussed cons and pros of different energy production ways and formulated targets for 2030, for example CO2 emissions, oil and gas use etc. Then we had to decide what to change in the world of energy use financed by 14 billion Euros.

For dinner we were served with broccoli soup, rice and strogranoff and ice cream. Next it was time for the simulation game. Today we had to find and save (well, sink it) a burning Russian LNG-tanker in a storm. Then, as a tradition in I.C.E. camps, a football was covered with our signatures and memorables from our camp.
